Probably the most important book I read this summer. Intelligent and scrupulous writing about the Black experience in the South, as seen through students at Spellman College in Atlanta and two Black friends who spend their lives searching for mothers and acceptance. Tragedy, history, and characters who speak for generations of those who need to find their roots and love. Friendship is not the only key that opens doors to their loves and lives. Powerful! -Edie S.
