Storytime Events
Our weekday storytime schedule runs from the weeks of February 24 – March 16 & April 20 – May 18

Pajama Storytime (ages 1-3 years)
Mondays: 3/24, 4/28, 5/19
Children are invited to join us for a fun and exciting nighttime storytime! Grab your favorite stuffed animal and wear your pajamas for a fun evening of stories and songs. This program is geared for children ages 1 to 3 but all are welcome! ASL interpretation will be provided. Registration is required.

Budding Bookworms (babies up to 17 months)
Wednesdays at 10:30am
Join us for Budding Bookworms, where babies from birth to 17 months dive into a world of sensory fun with stories, songs, and playful movement activities! This engaging program, designed for little ones and their caregivers, sparks early literacy skills and offers a joyful, interactive experience. Afterwards, little ones and their caregivers can stick around for social playtime where babies can interact and explore with new friends! Registration required.

Storytots (toddlers 18-35 months)
Tuesdays & Thursdays at 10:30am
Dive into a world of wonder with Storytots, our delightful storytime adventure for little ones aged 18 to 35 months and their caregivers! Each session is a magical mix of stories, singing, and fun-filled play. Together, we’ll explore charming picture books, sing songs, and enjoy interactive activities that spark creativity and support early learning. Get ready to discover the joy of reading with us—where every story is an adventure and every moment is a chance to play and grow! Registration required.

Once Upon an Easel (toddlers 18-35 months)
Thursdays at 10:30am – starting this April!
Once Upon an Easel is a creative storytime experience for little ones 18 months to 35 months. Each session begins with a beautifully illustrated book, followed by a hands-on art activity inspired by the story’s style or themes. Children will explore colors, textures, and techniques while developing a love for both reading and making art. It’s a fun and engaging way to encourage creativity, self-expression, and early literacy! Registration required.

Crafty Tales (Children ages 2-5)
Mondays at 10:30am
Join us for a magical adventure designed for little hands and big imaginations! Children 2 to 5 will dive into enchanting stories paired with craft.
Get ready for fun, giggles, and colorful creations as we read and create together. Registration required.

The entire family is welcome to join us for this storytime each Saturday! Children and their caregivers can increase language development and comprehension with our stories, songs, and rhymes. Registration is not required for this event. (This program will not be held if there is another program occurring at the same time)
*Online registration is required for all programs. Registration opens the Monday one week prior. The first four days of registration are limited to children who are residents of Scotch Plains only. Library Programs

Coding Wizards, Tuesdays at 3:45pm (No Session 3/11)
Are you curious about how video games are made or interested in creating your own apps? Children age 8-12 are invited to join our new club – Coding Wizards. This self-paced after school club introducing activities. This program is open to Scotch Plains residents only and is run through our Fiero Code subscription. Registration required.

Paw Buddies – Wednesday, March 19th at 4:00pm
Children are invited to practice their reading with a trained therapy animal at this program. This event will be held in the basement of the library. This program is for emerging readers who are in K-5th grade. Registration is required.

Coding Sprouts – Thursday, March 20 at 4:00pm
Coding Sprouts is a fun program for K-2 students to explore the basics of coding. Each month, kids will try unplugged activities to build problem-solving skills, then play interactive coding games on iPads to reinforce their learning. It’s a hands-on, engaging way to introduce young learners to the world of coding! Registration required.

Let’s Create Studio – Wednesday, April 4th at 4:00pm
Students in 3rd to 7th grade are invited to participate in this monthly hands-on creativity workshop. Each month will feature a new challenge or project.

Books & Beyond – Thursday, April 3rd at 4:00pm
Books are only the beginning! Students in Kindergarten to 2nd grade are invited to this program which will feature a non-fiction book and then continue to a hands-on related activity. Registration required for each session.

Newspaper Club – for grades 2-6
Newspaper Club is an opportunity for young writers, artists, and photographers to collaborate and create their own online local newspaper! The club is founded and run by a teen volunteer with experience in local journalism. It will meet once a month and publish one issue every three months. Snacks will be provided at all meetings. Registration is required.
