Special Events

Build Bunny’s World & Author Visit with Amanda Baehr Fuller
Join us Saturday, April 25 at 10 AM for a special visit with author and illustrator Amanda Baehr Fuller, creator of Bunny Made Tea. Amanda will read her book, then kids can enjoy tea-themed activities, including tastings, flower crowns, and art!
Pop-in art sessions for families and students will be held leading up to the event to help decorate our gallery space. Registration required. Visit our online calendar for exact dates!

National Unicorn Day
National Unicorn Day is back on Thursday, April 9th! Children ages 5 and under can join us at 4:00pm for a special storytime and craft, while elementary students can create LED light-up unicorn cards in a hands-on STEM workshop—registration required.


Storytimes & Events for Littles

Spring break is here, and it’s time to celebrate! Join us for our Spring Storytime Jamboree, an outdoor adventure filled with songs, stories, and surprises. This special storytime is all about the magic of libraries and the joy of reading! Registration required.

Looking for a cozy and welcoming space to connect with other families? Tiny Tales Social Hour is the perfect chance for caregivers and babies (17 months and under) to gather, explore our latest board books, and enjoy open playtime in a relaxed setting. Registration required.

Budding Bookworms invites babies (birth–17 months) and their caregivers to enjoy stories, songs, and movement activities that spark early literacy, followed by social playtime with new friends. Registration required.

Storytots is a lively storytime for children 18–35 months and their caregivers, featuring picture books, songs, and interactive play that spark creativity and early learning. Registration required.

Once Upon an Easel is a creative storytime for children 18–35 months, combining beautifully illustrated books with hands-on art activities that spark imagination, self-expression, and early literacy. Registration required.

Pajama Storytime – Thursdays (3/19, 4/30, 5/21) at 6:00pm

Children are invited to join us for a fun and exciting nighttime storytime! Grab your favorite stuffed animal and wear your pajamas for a fun evening of stories and songs. This program is geared for children ages 1 to 3 but all are welcome! ASL interpretation will be provided. Registration required.

Saturday Storytime – Saturdays at 10:00am

The entire family is welcome to join us for this storytime each Saturday! Children and their caregivers can increase language development and comprehension with our stories, songs, and rhymes. Registration is not required fort his event (check our website for date updates).

Crafty Tales – Mondays (4.6. 5/2, & 6/8) at 6:00pm

Designed for children between 2 and 5 years of age, this program promotes creativity by pairing a stories with a craft. Registration required.

Sprinkle Squad – Thursdays: 4/2, 5/7, & 6/11 at 6:00pm

Calling all junior chefs! Kids in K–2nd grade will mix, stir, and sprinkle their way through a new kid-friendly recipe each month. Come cook up fun and tasty creations. Grades K-2. Registration required.

Art Explorers – Mondays: 4/13, 5/4, & 6/8 at 7:00pm

Join us as we dive into the colorful world of art! Each session, we’ll learn about a famous artist and explore their unique style. Then, we’ll create our own simplified version of their artwork using kid-friendly techniques and materials. Perfect for curious creators who love to make and imagine! For grades 2-5. Registration required.


Pokémon Clubs

We’re excited to introduce TWO new Pokémon Clubs at the Scotch Plains Public Library! Elementary students can join us on 4/21, 5/19, and 6/9 at 4:00pm, while Grades 3–8 can take part in our Battle Club on 5/5 and 6/9 at 4:00pm—registration is encouraged, and no trading allowed.

Panel & Ink – Tuesdays: 4/21, 5/19 & 6/16 at 4:00pm

Calling all graphic novel fans! Panel & Ink is your chance to share your favorite reads and discover new ones. Each month we’ll spotlight a different graphic novel you can choose to read—or bring your own to talk about. Whether you’ve read one book or a stack, come join other GN lovers for fun conversations, fresh recommendations, and plenty of inspiration for your next read. For Grades 3-5. Registration required.

Coding Wizards -Thursdays at 4:00pm (Resumes 4/23/26)

Are you curious about how video games are made or interested in creating your own apps? Children age 8-12 are invited to join our new club – Coding Wizards. This self-paced after school club introducing activities. Registration required. Scotch Plains residents only.

Paw Buddies – Mondays (4/27 & 5/11)

Our Paw Buddies program geared for students in grades K-5 who want to practice their reading skills! This program is ideal for not just emerging readers, but all readers! Registration required

Snack Attack! – Thursday, 2/26,at 6:00pm

Tuesdays: 3/31, 4/14, & 5/12 at 3:45pm

Calling all budding chefs! Kids in grades 3–5 will level up their kitchen skills each month as they chop, mix, and create fun, beginner-friendly recipes. Join us to cook up tasty treats and try out new techniques. Registration required
