Birding Basics: Get Ready for October Big Day
Thursday, October 10, 2024 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

You can make a difference in protecting bird biodiversity!
Information collected by bird watchers around the globe provides scientists with vital information on species survival and habitat loss.
October Big Day (Saturday, October 12) is the perfect opportunity to contribute to citizen science, enjoy nature, and connect with a global community of bird lovers—whether you’re a seasoned birder or just starting out.
We can help you prepare for and participate in the celebration!
Join us on Thursday, October 10 at the Library for a presentation by SPFHS teacher Zach Rittner, who will introduce us to a variety of free, helpful apps you can download to help you identify birds and report your findings. You’ll also learn about some of the most common birds in our area, as well as some strategies you can use to collect the best possible data during the bird count.
Please register for the workshop.
On October 12, we’ll meet at Trailside Nature Center for guided bird watching and reporting! Registration coming soon. (You don’t have to attend this workshop first.)
