The New Climate War: The Fight to Take Back the Planet

The New Climate War: The Fight to Take Back the Planet

"Mann argues that all is not lost. He draws the battle lines between the people and the polluters--fossil fuel companies, right-wing plutocrats, and petrostates. And he outlines a plan for forcing our governments and corporations to wake up and make real change, including: a common-sense, attainable approach to carbon tax-- an overhaul of the flawed Green New Deal; allowing renewable energy to compete fairly against fossil fuels debunking the false narratives and arguments that have worked their way into the climate debate and driven a wedge between even those who support climate change solutions how to combat climate doomism. So when did it become impossible to deny global warming? According to Penn State Climatologist Michael Mann it was 2018 when the effects of higher temperatures were impossible to dismiss. Mann believes that while the earth's situation is dire there is still time to make sure the the atmospheric temperature does not rise above 2 degrees centigrade over the beginning of the industrial revolution. Believe it or not such a well known environmental advocate believes that there is a free market solution to our problem. This is that if you are operating an energy consuming business you must pay a "carbon tax" for exceeding the appropriate increased societal costs in health and sea water rise concerns your business causes. Now naturally carbon based oligarchs such as the Koch family would not be happy about this, but renewable sources, supported by big battery back-up, have reached the point to do this. We must make it a fair fight where the business you are in must pay for the societal costs that you are not paying. To Mann renewable sources of energy are now competitive enough to beat the old carbon industry in a "fair" fight. If this is so, then we should all be working on the project. -Gorin A.
