Offline Days June 15-17

STELLA, our library consortium, is pleased to be welcoming the Asbury Park Public Library as its 43rd member!

Please note that the process of importing Asbury Park’s catalog will require all STELLA libraries to run a temporary offline system between June 15 and June 17. Multiple services will be temporarily suspended.

You can take action ahead of time to minimize any impact to your library usage!

Because we are unable to access your account while we’re offline, login to it now and:

  • Come into the library to renew your card if it’s expired or set to expire soon.
  • Pay or resolve any fines that are blocking your card.
  • Make sure you know your PIN. If you haven’t used our online resources in a while. If you’re unsure of your PIN (by default the last 4 digits of your phone number), you can reset it online or visit us to reset it.

Between Monday, June 15 and Wednesday, June 17, the following changes to our services will be in effect:

Borrowing Items

  • You can checkout items while we are offline, but there will be a limit of 5 items per card.
  • You MUST bring your library card (or the STELLA app displaying your barcode) with you in order to borrow items, both at Scotch Plains or any other STELLA libraries. We cannot look up your card number.
  • Museum passes, Chromebooks, and Hotspots cannot be borrowed during this time.
  • No borrowing with MURAL cards can take place.

Placing Holds

  • New hold requests cannot be placed.
  • If you have been notified that your hold has arrived, you may pick it up during the offline period.

Returning Items

  • Borrowing periods will be extended so that no due dates fall between June 15-17. Please hold on to your borrowed items during this time.
  • Items cannot be checked in and removed from your account until June 18.

Your Library Card and Account

  • We cannot issue, update, or renew library cards. If your library card is set to expire during this time and you will need to use it, you must visit us ahead of time to renew it.
  • You won’t be able to pay fines or fees on your account.
  • We cannot reset your PIN, which is needed to access some of our online resources. If you’re unsure of your PIN and anticipate needing to use these resources, try a test login now to your account. (The default is the last four digits of the phone number you provided us.) You can reset your PIN online, or contact us for help.

Searching the Catalog

  • The STELLA catalog will not update during the offline period. Item status may not be correct. If you’re looking for a specific title in Scotch Plains, please call to verify its status.

Electronic Resources

  • All electronic resources will work without disruption during the transition. You can still use Hoopla and Libby to borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks.
  • As noted above, please make sure in advance that you are able to login with your PIN.
