Library Programs

The Scotch Plains Public Library offers a variety of programs for children. Our programs incorporate the principles of Every Child Ready to Read®.

Budding Bookworms – Babies from birth to 17 months and their caregivers can enjoy stories, songs, sensory activities, and playful movement designed to support early literacy skills. After the program, caregivers and babies are invited to stay for social playtime and explore with new friends.

Storytots – Children ages 18 to 35 months and their caregivers can enjoy stories, songs, movement, and interactive activities designed to support early learning and encourage a love of books and reading.

Once Upon an Easel – This award-winning program brings together art and stories! Children ages 18 to 35 months and their caregivers will explore hands-on art projects using a variety of tactile materials, mediums, and techniques.

Crafty Tales – Designed for children ages 2 to 5, this program pairs a story with a hands-on craft inspired by the book.

Pajama Storytime – Grab your favorite stuffed animal and put on your pajamas for a fun evening of stories and songs! This program is geared toward children ages 1 to 3, but all are welcome. ASL interpretation will be provided.

Saturday Storytime – The entire family is welcome to join us for stories, songs, and rhymes that help support language development and comprehension. Registration is not required. This program will not be held when another program is scheduled at the same time.
